Why are more people not using this service?
This was a question asked of me recently, all relating to our Warfarin clinic in Douglas. On a Friday afternoon, I was working in Grenagh until 6 o’clock when a call came in from Douglas, a lady needed a warfarin blood test urgently in order to have a procedure done next week and I was the only one who could possibly do the test as the hospital clinics were closed.
I was finished in Grenagh at 6pm and promptly headed for Douglas. The appointment had been set for half 6 the lady had her test done, recommendations made and left the pharmacy by 6.45pm.
I didn’t realise the significance of this effort until I got a text message on my work mobile the following week:
Hi Darren, my INR was 2 3 on Tuesday so I was able to have the biopsy this morning. So many thanks for your help last week I would have had great difficulties if you had not been there for me.
This just sums up the ease, convenience and flexibility of our Warfarin clinic, you don’t even need to get your prescription with us to get your testing here. If you, or anyone you know has to attend the hospital clinic and would like to explore switching to our clinic please don’t hesitate to contact any Pharmacy First Plus or darren@pharmacyfirstplus.ie!
